Brainerd Main Street, First Lutheran host an exhibit of downtown photos

On Thursday, Brainerd Main Street and First Lutheran Church are hosting an exhibit of photos taken Oct. 1 during the World Wide Photo Walk. Approximately 45 area photographers ranging from novice to professional participated in the walk taking thousands of photos of Brainerd’s Main Street District, including the historic downtown.

On Thursday, from 6:30-8 p.m., the community is invited to First Lutheran Church to help celebrate the artists and the historic area of our community that served as the inspiration for this event. Coffee and desserts will be provided. This photography exhibit is open to the public and is free of charge.

According to a photo walk is a social photography event where photographers get together (usually in a downtown area or trendy section of town) to walk around, shoot photos, and generally have fun with other photographers. This year marked the fourth year of the event with nearly 28,000 photographers from across the globe highlighting their communities through the artistic perspective of a camera lens.

After graduating high school in 2004, I attended Central Lakes College in Staples, MN for 2 years where I got a diploma in Communication Art and Design. I then transfered up to Bemidji State University in, you guessed it, Bemidji, MN. In the spring of 2009, I graduated from BSU. Then in the fall of 2009 I got a job at Echo Publishing, a sister company to the Brainerd Dispatch.
