BAXTER CITY COUNCIL CUP approved for new Essentia Health clinic, Prairie Bay addition

BAXTER — The Baxter City Council Tuesday approved a conditional use permit to allow for multiple pylon signs for Essentia Health’s new Baxter clinic.

The clinic is expected to open in mid- to late-January.

Under the city’s current sign regulations, the clinic would only be allowed one freestanding sign up to 250 square feet per face. The city allowed Essentia Health two monument signs, at Highway 371 and Isle Drive. The Highway 371 sign is 15 feet, 6 inches with 185 square feet per face. The Isle Drive sign will be 10 feet tall with 50 square feet per face. Both are at least 10 feet from the property line and will be lit internally so the source of the light is concealed.

The council also approved a CUP to amend a planned unit development to allow the existing Prairie Bay Grill and Catering to add building and patio additions.

The council also approved a CUP to allow hockey rink lighting and a warming house at Forestview Middle School with conditions.
