LWVMN meeting scheduled Dec. 8

The League of Women Voters of the Brainerd Lakes Area will conduct a panel discussion on the impact of budget cuts on the judicial branch. The program will be at noon Dec. 8 at the Brainerd Public Library.

The panel will be professionals in the legal field with expertise in criminal justice, child protection, diversion programs, legal services and victim advocacy. The program is open to the public. The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government.The League of Women Voters believes that democratic government depends upon informed and active participation in government and requires that governmental bodies protect the citizen’s right to know by giving adequate notice of proposed actions, holding open meetings and making public records accessible.
