Firefighters respond to alarms, brush pile fire

The Brainerd Fire Department responded to three fire calls Saturday and Sunday.

A general fire alarm was reported at 3:49 p.m. Saturday at the Westgate Mall. There was no fire, but the alarm came from a broken sprinkler head during construction work at the mall.

At 9:40 p.m. Saturday, firefighters responded to a report of a brush pile on fire just off Business Highway 371 just south of Buffalo Hills. No one was injured and the fire was extinguished.

At 4:36 p.m. Sunday, firefighters were called to check out a possible fire in a yard at Fourth and Park streets. The fire turned out to be a recreational fire.
