Fitness United aims to aid healthier lifestyles

United Way of Crow Wing and Southern Cass Counties is teaming up with area fitness centers in the effort to help children and adults develop healthier lifestyles. The seventh annual community health and wellness program, Fitness United, will be conducted Monday – March 7.

The public is encouraged to gather family, friends, or co-workers to form a pair or team of up to six adults and have fun working together to create healthier lifestyles. Awards can be earned by learning, exercising, eating well, and losing weight. Throughout the program, participants will have free use of facilities at designated area fitness clubs, be able to attend free classes, and receive discounts on various fun activities. Every registered adult may enroll up to three children for free. Children may win awards by tracking their health and wellness activities in weekly fitness logs. The registration fee for adults to participate is $25. Money raised from Fitness United is applied to local programs that promote healthy lifestyles for individuals and families in our community.

Fitness United Kick-Off Nights will be held at the following locations:

• Hallett Center of Crosby on Monday from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

• FitQuest in Brainerd on Tuesday from 4 – 6 p.m.

• Snap Fitness in Pequot Lakes on Wednesday from 4 – 6 p.m.

During the Kick-Off Nights participants will receive program information and adults will weigh in as a pair or team on one scale. All adult participants must submit team/pair bodyweights at the beginning and end of the program for award eligibility. Children must submit fitness logs for award eligibility.

Finish Line Nights will be from 4-6 p.m. on March 5 in Crosby, March 6 in Brainerd and March 7 in Pequot Lakes. At the Finish Line Nights, adults will weigh in as a pair or team on one scale and children will receive awards based on fitness log points earned.
