Firefighters respond to flurry of fire calls

Brainerd firefighters respond to calls

The Brainerd Fire Department responded to a mix of fire calls during the weekend from grass to grease fires.

About 10 a.m. Friday, a small grease fire in the kitchen of a house on the 1600 block of Emma Street. No one was injured. At 3:35 p.m. Friday a grass fire was reported on Highway 371 North near Crow Wing Power.

At 4:25 p.m. Friday smoke was reported at American Steel on the 1200 block of Wright Street. It turned out to be a false alarm. Firefighters responded to a car fire at 9:54 p.m. Friday on Highway 210 and Ash Avenue in Brainerd. At 9:37 p.m. Friday, smoke was reported in a house on the 1100 block of South 10th Street. Nothing was found. At 4:34 p.m. Sunday, a grass fire was reported by the Marsh Run Townhomes behind the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Oak Street in Brainerd.
