Brainerd Teacher of the Year nominations sought

Nominations for the 2012 Brainerd Teacher of the Year will begin to be accepted Monday and it will remain open through Jan. 28. Nominations may be submitted online on the Brainerd Schools’ website at www.isd181.org.

The 2012 Brainerd Teacher of the Year will be named early in February. The Teacher of the Year also becomes a candidate for Minnesota Teacher of the Year. Anyone may nominate a teacher.

Self-nominations also are accepted.

Senior college planned

The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society, in conjunction with Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, announces “Senior College” is once again coming to the Woodland Good Samaritan Campus. Beginning Monday, seniors will be able to take part in six-week classes offered for free. There are no tests or grades, just a chance to learn with others. The classes offered are Course 1: The Turbulent Sixties, Monday, 1 p.m., 300 classroom (six sessions of two hours each); Course 2: Current Political Events at Home and Abroad, Tuesday, 1 p.m., 300 classroom, (six sessions of two hours each); Course 3, Religions of the World, Wednesday, 1 p.m., 300 classroom, (six sessions of one hour each); Course 4, This I Believe, Jan. 19, 1 p.m., 300 classroom (six sessions of one hour each); Course 5, Great American Holidays, Jan. 20, 1 p.m., 300 classroom, (six sessions of one hour each).
