Breast health is focus of women's wellness seminar
AITKIN — It’s a new year and a great time to focus on health and wellness. For women, the topic of breast health is always timely given the prevalence of breast cancer and the importance of early detection and regular screenings.
On Jan. 26, Riverwood Healthcare Center is hosting a seminar on “Women’s Wellness and Breast Health” at the 40 Club Convention Center in Aitkin.
Registration opens at 5:15 p.m., a light dinner at 5:30 p.m., and the program will begin at 5:45 p.m.
The program will focus on breast health and what’s new for the treatment of breast cancer. The guest speaker is Carol Bergen, clinical manager of Piper Breast Center at the Virginia Piper Cancer Institute — Abbott Northwestern Hospital. She will talk about breast conditions and changes and diagnostic tools for detecting breast cancer, such as why and when specific breast imaging methods are used. She will also touch on women’s overall health and wellness, offering helpful tips and information.
Bergen, registered nurse, was instrumental in the planning and development of the Piper Breast Center, which opened in January 1995 and was the first comprehensive breast center in Minnesota. She has been clinical manager of the Center since it opened 17 years ago and previously worked as a nurse leader in various oncology arenas.
There is no cost to attend the seminar and a light meal will be served.
Seating is limited and registration is required. For more information, contact Riverwood Education at (218) 927-5552 or firstname.lastname@example.org
