Firefighters respond to

house fire in Pine River

PINE RIVER — The cause of a house fire Monday in Pine River was not known and the state fire marshal will investigate, said Pine River Fire Chief Mike Hansen.

Hansen said firefighters responded to a home owned by Dave Kordiak at 10:31 a.m., located on 48th Avenue Southwest, eight miles west of Pine River. Upon arrival, Hansen said there was heavy smoke, but the home was not fully engulfed.

“We’re not considering this fire to be suspicious at this time,” said Hansen.

Hansen said the house was unoccupied at the time of the fire, and that no one was hurt.

Assisting Pine River at the scene were the Backus and Pequot Lakes fire departments that provided water and manpower and the Crosslake Fire Department’s Rapid Intervention Team, that was on standby in case something bad happened.

Firefighters cleared the scene at 2:30 p.m.
