Pequot Lakes author to appear in Bloomington festival and book fair

Pequot Lakes Author Candace Simar will be appearing and reading Saturday at the Bloomington Theatre and Art Center Writers’ Festival and Book Fair. Simar is the author of the Abercrombie Trail Series Novels.

Simar’s debut Historical novel, “Abercrombie Trail,” was released by North Star Press in 2009 and tells the story of Scandinavian immigrants who experience the 1862 Sioux Uprising. Her second book, “Pomme de Terre,” was released in 2010, and the third novel, “Birdie,” was released in 2011. Candace’s fourth novel in the series, “Blooming Prairie,” will be released this fall.

The Writers’ Festival and Book Fair will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The book fair is free and open to the public. More than 80 authors and resource people will be available to discuss how they wrote their book, the publishing process and other facets of writing and publishing. Authors will be selling and signing books at the event. Workshops will also be offered at the event for a fee; pre-registration is required. For complete details go to
