Military museum to conduct volunteer training
CAMP RIPLEY – The Minnesota Military Museum will be conducting training for volunteers 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 28 at Camp Ripley.
Individuals of all ages who have an interest in military history and would like to volunteer time at the museum this summer are encouraged to attend.
“We are primarily looking for volunteers who want to help us improve the visitor experience to the museum by filling the role of greeters and tour guides and assist us in the day-to-day operation of the museum, however, we also have openings for people to help with artifact processing and maintenance,” said Jeff Thielen, museum executive director, in a news release.
Staff from the Minnesota Historical Society will be presenting the training and will assist volunteers develop individual presentations about museum exhibits that tell the stories of Minnesota veterans.
Those interested in volunteering who would like to attend the training are asked to visit www.mnmilitarymuseum.org to learn more about volunteer opportunities and to download a volunteer application. Thielen also stated volunteers should bring their calendars to assist with coordinating volunteer opportunities and that volunteers could work as little or as much as they wanted.
“We would love to have someone volunteer one day a week, but, we will accommodate the volunteer to meet their schedule and needs,” Thielen said. “If you want to improve your knowledge of military history, support our military veterans, help out a great nonprofit, and meet interesting visitors this summer, you should check out our volunteer opportunities and plan on attending the training on April 28.”
