WALKER — A 20-year-old Red Lake man, charged with second-degree murder for the stabbing death of a 22-year-old Walker man that occurred March 21 in the Onigum area, appeared Thursday in Cass County District Court before Judge John Smith.

Smith set Sheldon James Smith’s next court hearing at 1 p.m. April 30.

The criminal complaint alleges that Smith stabbed the victim during an encounter between two groups of individuals. Smith fled the scene with his companions. The victim died on the way to the hospital of apparent stab wounds to the chest.
