Pequot Lakes man wins Mega Millions’ prize

A Pequot Lakes man won $250,000 by matching the first five numbers from the Mega Millions drawing on March 30.

Brett Nienaber purchased the winning ticket at the Holiday station at 7472 Excelsior Road in Baxter.

The winning numbers were drawn for the record $640 million jackpot. Three other tickets in Minnesota were worth $250,000. The others were claimed by Julie Ryan and Bob Jerde of St. Paul and Russicha Deloach of New Hope. The fourth ticket, purchased in Nobles County, wasn’t claimed as of Tuesday, the Minnesota State Lottery reported.

And if you purchased a Mega Millions ticket on Feb. 7 in Hennepin County, you might want to check your ticket or hope you didn’t toss it. That prize of $250,000 has yet to be claimed. Players have one year from the date of the drawing to claim the prize.

Mega Millions, the multi-state jackpot game, starts at $12 million and grows until someone wins. Tickets come with nine ways to win. The lottery reports the odds of winning a cash prize are about 1 in 40. Odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are about 1 in 175.7 million.

Information on the winning numbers are online at and by calling (651) 634-1111.
