Triad offers practical tips on self defense, safety

Practical tips for self defense and safety are offered in a free community session from 1-3 p.m. April 19 at Heartwood, 500 Heartwood Drive, Crosby.

The session is aimed at providing tips to help people protect themselves from assaults, to learn the difference between persona safety versus self defense, provide information on motor vehicle safety, senior self defense, household safety and traveling safety.

The event is by Triad of Crow Wing County, a three-way partnership between area seniors, law enforcement professionals and the community as a whole. The group’s focus is to reduce criminal victimization of the elderly through education and enhanced delivery of law enforcement services.

The session will provide information about common and not so common physical threats, scams and identify red flags to watch for in order to help people avoid being victims.

Refreshments and a drawing are planned at the conclusion of the event.

For more information, call 829-4749 or visit the Crow Wing County website: or call the Baxter Police Department at 855-5090.
