Crow Wing County offers Skywarn weather spotter class
Crow Wing County will offer a Skywarn weather spotter class from 6-7:30 p.m. April 17 in the Crow Wing County Land Services Building, meeting room 1 and 2, 322 Laurel St.
Skywarn is part of the National Weather Service (NWS) warning program designed to establish a network of volunteers trained in detection and reporting of life-threatening storms.
Classes are free and open to everyone. The class, which lasts about an hour, will offer information on meteorological dynamics involved in thunderstorm development, ingredients necessary to make a thunderstorm severe or tornadic and also what to look for when viewing a thunderstorm.
Upon completion participants will receive an ID number which is valid for four years.
