Brainerd graduate, Kevin Doran wins Emmy Award for news special
Main Anchor and Managing Editor for WROC in Rochester, NY, Kevin Doran won an Emmy Award for his reporting on a news special called "In the Line of Fire,” a 5-part series based on the experiences of two Rochester police officers who were shot in the line of duty.
In the series, two officers describe the night they responded to a 911 call, and then were both shot outside the residence where the call had made placed. The entire incident was captured on security cameras and on their police radios. They sat down with veteran anchor/reporter Kevinn in an exclusive interview and went on to describe the physical and emotional toll of the incident, plus the painful physical rehabilitation that followed. The officers' wives also sat down with Kevin, offering their perspective.
"I am grateful the officers trusted us to tell their personal stories," said Doran, also WROC-TV's Managing Editor. "I am even more grateful our hard work was recognized by our peers as worthy of receiving one of the highest honors in broadcast journalism."

Kevin is a 1979 graduate of Brainerd High School. His parents are Tom and Marguerite Doran. Kevin and his wife Teresa have two daughters, Emma and Eva. They live outside of Rochester in Victor, NY.
