Finnish Storyteller at Brainerd library

Multi-talented Finnish storyteller and magician, Cheryl Sawyer, will make an appearance at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Brainerd Public Library to share her stories and fun.

Sawyer weaves in magic and balloon art making, and enthralls crowds of children of all ages with her skill at speaking Finnish. She infuses humor and creative sound effects in the story telling and draws you in to use your imagination.

Sawyer’s most requested story is “The Three Bears” recited in the Finnish language and surprisingly understood by all. She uses the art of storytelling to impart both traditional stories with moral lessons and adapted stories with family value entertainment at heart.

The event is free and is made possible through the Legacy Program is funded in part or in whole with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on Nov. 4, 2008 which dedicated funding to preserve Minnesota’s art and cultural heritage.
