BHS testing season
BHS testing season
Throughout the state of Minnesota, students will soon be participating in many standardized tests in order to earn a diploma. Parents and students need to be aware of the state and school requirements for graduation. Please keep in mind the following test requirements and dates for students at South Campus and Brainerd High School:
All students starting with the class of 2010 must pass the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (MCA II) in writing, reading and math in order to be eligible for a diploma. Students who have not passed the tests are given opportunities throughout the school year to retake the tests.
All students in the junior class (class of 2013) will take the MCA test in math. All sophomore students (class of 2014) will take the MCA test in reading. Ninth grade students (class of 2015) will take the MCA writing test.
The MCA writing test will be given on April 17 at South Campus (grade 9) and the MCA reading and math will be given April 17 and 18 at Brainerd High School (grades 10-11).
Seniors (class of 2012) are excused from school until 10:30 a.m. on April 17 and 18. The senior banquet is being held on the morning of April 18 at Legacy. Tickets for the breakfast buffet may be purchased through Shelly at 454-6205.
Advanced Placement testing will take place from May 7 through May 18. Each Advanced Placement course has a nationally designated time and date for the administration of the test. Advanced Placement students should check with their teacher to prepare for their test.
Parents: The MCA tests are a requirement for graduation so please discuss the importance of these tests with your son or daughter and encourage them to do their best. We ask for your support in having your son or daughter rested for the test and to school early on test days.
If you have any questions relating to MCA testing please call the BHS Student Services office at 454-6298.
