Red Bulls return home Friday

The long road home from Kuwait should end Friday.

Twenty-seven soldiers are expected to arrive at the Brainerd National Guard Armory in the Brainerd Industrial Park some time around mid-day Friday, Capt. Rob Grutsch said. Grutsch, the rear detachment commander, said Wednesday night he had not yet received official word of what time the soldiers will arrive by bus.

The soldiers are members of the Higher Headquarters Co. 1-194 Armor Combined Arms Battalion (HHC 1-194 AR CAB) which was stationed in Kuwait with many of its members making trips into Iraq. They were part of Operation New Dawn, providing logistical support and helping to bring back equipment from Iraq.

Staff Sgt. Mike Stanek said he expects the soldiers to greet their families as they step off the bus and be on their way fairly quickly.

The Brainerd Armory is located at 115 Wright St.

Updated information on the soldiers’ arrival will be available when the Brainerd Dispatch receives the information at
