Firefighters return to Travis Trail for second grass fire

Firefighters were called to a grass fire at Travis Trail on April 4. A vehicle was also on fire at the scene. The driver attempted to smother the fire by driving back and forth over it, but ended up starting the car on fire and burning a couple of acres.

At 9:41 a.m. Sunday, firefighters returned to the 8000 block of Travis Trail, which is south of Brainerd and west of the Welcome Center by Highway 371. The unattended fire in the woods burned a small area. Earlier on Sunday, at 5:21 a.m., the fire department responded to a home on Island Drive for a fire/smoke alarm. No fire was found.

At 11:03 a.m. Friday, firefighters were called to investigate an illegal burn at 12th and N streets regarding burning demolition trash. At 12:45 p.m. Friday, firefighters responded to an alarm at South Campus at the Brainerd High School. It turned out to be a false alarm. At 6:14 p.m. Friday, firefighters were called to Highway 210 West for a car fire as the brakes over heated.
