Senior Center hosts annual plant sale

Shoppers with visions of vine-ripened tomatoes will have a chance to start their taste of summer with a plant.

Thursday, May 10, marks the first day of the Lakes Area Senior Activity Center’s annual plant sale, which continues Friday and Saturday.

Tomato varieties include celebrity, beefy boy, early girl, beefsteak, Rutger, yellow jubilee, Amana, super sweet, roma and grape tomatoes.

The sale also includes pepper plants like California wonder, yellow banana, king Arthur, big bertha, jalapeno, yellow bell, sweet red and sweet banana.

For herb garden enthusiasts, the sale features sweet basil, chives and garlic, mint, oregano, thyme, tarragon and parsley.

Raspberries, strawberries and rhubarb are included along with fruit trees, perennial flowers, hostas, flower bulbs, and annual flowers.

The sale is 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
