Emily residents chalk it up as another vindictive action by the C-I School Board. But C-I Supt. Bruce Grosland says the district, in ordering chalkboards and bulletin boards removed from the Emily school, was erasing the chance that the old school would reopen.

Les Sellnow, editor of the Brainerd Dispatch, has been appointed by Gov. Al Quie to serve on the 7-member Minnesota Board of Boxing, replacing Harry Davis. Sellnow has been involved in boxing as either coach or director for more than 25 years.

Two county board members, Francis Murphy and Ross Kunkel, changed their votes as the board decided not to defy a state order which called for closing the campground at French Rapids near the airport. The site lacked a recreational camping permit.

Roosevelt and Horseshoe Lakes paid off for Paul Bunyanland fishermen with a 10 pound walleye and a 15-1 northern, respectively. Bernard Andrews of Emily caught the walleye and Dale Stevens, Brainerd, got the northern. Both weighed in at Madison’s Sports Shop.

Sentences of 45 days each in the county jail were meted out today to four youths by Judge Warner in municipal court on the charge of chicken stealing. They stole chickens belonging to John Weber, and later admitted to three similar thefts.

E. J. Goward of Aitkin won the state championship diamond badge at the Riverside Gun Club trap shoot, open only to Minnesotans. He hit 44 of 50, firing at 26 singles and 24 doubles. G. E. Trent, Sr. won the professional class; G. E. Trent, Jr. was top amateur.
