Cloquet man’s condition improves

After being in critical condition for about two weeks, a 29-year-old Cloquet man who was injured May 30 while working on the College Drive project when an excavator backed over him at the College Drive and Fourth Street South intersection in Brainerd has been upgraded to stable condition Friday at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.

Andrew Jutila suffered significant injuries to his pelvic and leg areas and had been in critical condition.

Jutila and the excavator operator are employed by Andrew Jutila Companies of Scanlon.

ATV crash man still critical

EMILY — A 46-year-old Oakdale man was still in critical condition Friday at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale after being injured in an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) crash Friday in Emily.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office reported that Steven J. Schmitt was riding on an ATV trail, about one mile west from Highway 6 in Emily, when he lost control of the ATV. It was reported that the ATV skidded off the trail and hit the ditch. Schmitt was airlifted by North Air Care and taken to the Robbinsdale hospital.

The crash was reported at 3:18 p.m.

Emily First Responders assisted at the scene.
