Brainerd firefighters have busy 4th
The Brainerd Fire Department had a busy Fourth of July.
Firefighters responded to a call at 3:57 a.m. Wednesday at Essentia Health St. Joseph’s Medical Center to a general fire alarm. At 6:38 p.m., firefighters responded to another call at Timbermist located on Crow Wing County Road 3. The restaurant was having issues with its alarm system.
At 8:56 p.m., there was a report of black smoke at the intersection of Business Highway 371 and St. Mathias Road. It was unfounded. A few hours later at 10:04 p.m., there was a call in the area of 80th Street and 40th Avenue in Brainerd. It was reported that lightning struck pine trees that caused an acre to burn.
Then at 10:29 p.m. firefighters were called to Lakewood Evangelical Free Church, 6284 Fairview Road, to a general fire alarm. At 10:35 p.m., a report at 1212 Norwood Street that a home was struck by lightning. It was unfounded.
Lightning strikes propane line
Lightning struck an underground propane line Wednesday causing the ground to start fire on the 21000 block of Moody Lane in Brainerd, reported the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident was reported at 11:23 p.m. and the Nisswa Fire Department was paged.
