Johnna Johnson, Cuyuna Lakes Chamber director, said many race fans enjoy watching all the different classes of Power Boats race. The event draws over a thousand spectators each year.

“Each year we see some of the same racers, but since this is such a family friendly sport, it is fun to watch the fathers helping their sons and daughters getting prepared for their first race,” said Johnson.

The event has been in the Crosby Memorial Park since the 1960s, missing only a few years in its history. The event has drawn different classes band sizes of boats each year. This year spectators can expect to see the F1, F2, F3 tunnel classes, GTPro, Sport C, Mini GT and Hobby Stock. In the not so distant pass the TCPBA have had racers range from 12 to 80.

Spectators are encouraged to park along Second Street, running north of the Crosby Memorial Park and enter near the skateboard park. Races start at noon both days and run until about 3:30 p.m. Concessions will be available by Sage Café, C-I Grad Blast, Maucieri’s Bistro with beer sales as well. Crafters are invited to attend as well.

The Serpent Speedway Races are sponsored by the City of Crosby and the Grand Casino Mille Lacs.
