Woman suffers burns in camp fire accident

MOTLEY — A 44-year-old Laverne woman suffered burns to a large portion of her body Tuesday after using camping fuel on a fire at Auger’s Resort on Lake Shamineau, south of Motley in Scandia Valley Township, reported the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office.

It was reported that Kristi Valynn Kooima Stroeh has suffered extensive burns. Authorities reported that Kooima Stroeh was using camping fuel on a fire, when a gust of wind blew fuel on her and she caught fire.

Kooima Stroeh was taken by North Memorial Air Care to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, where she was in satisfactory condition Wednesday. Hospital officials reported that the woman had burns on 15-18 percent of her body.

The incident was reported at 7:10 p.m.
