Hackensack woman elected American Legion V.P.
The American Legion Auxiliary conducted its 93rd State Convention in Morton on July 19-21. Shirley Frederick from Hackensack Unit 202 was elected Department first vice president for 2012-2013. Frederick has been an active auxiliary member since 1964 and with the Hackensack unit since 1973. She has held many chairmanships in the unit, District 6 and Department of Minnesota level. She is active in her church and works part-time for the chamber of commerce and is dedicated in service to benefit all programs of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Also elected officers are Raleen Tolzmann, Department president from Cleveland and Chris Ronning, Department second vice president from Osseo.
Linda Thompson of Ostego, state president of the American Legion Auxiliary presided. The Honorary Department Junior President, Amelia Tesdahl, a member of the St. Francis Unit 622 brought greetings from the Junior Auxiliary along with the 2012 governor of Minnesota Girls State, Oluwatunmise Fawole of Osseo.
Keynote speaker was the national president of the American Legion Auxiliary, Kris Nelson of Baxter.
Hackensack Unit 202 received certificates of merit for field service, national security, junior activities and veterans aAffairs and rehabiliitation. Also attending the convention from Hackensack Unit 202 was Nancy Albrecht, unit treasurer, who served on the Public Relations Committee for the convention caucuses.
