Basic Internet/cellphone safety for teens class

BREEZY POINT — An Internet safety for teens presentation will be discussed from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Breezy Point Public Safety Building at 8361 Crow Wing County Road 11.

The presenter, Breezy Point Police officer Jason Rieber, a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, will discuss various topics regarding internet safety for teens. Emphasis will be on Facebook, chatrooms and text messaging. Attendees will learn about security settings, Geotagging, smartphones and photo uploading on Facebook, chatrooms and internet predators. There will be a discussion on “sexting” and how it affects the lives of those involved and their families.

The class fee is $5 and participants are asked to pre-register. Parents are encouraged to attend and may attend for free if child is registered.
