Email

Central Lakes College (CLC) in Brainerd on Thursday (Aug. 23) hosted about 200 high school instructors, counselors and administrators for a day of collaboration to strengthen the nationally accredited College in Schools (CIS) program.

CIS is a partnership between CLC and 31 high schools that gives high schools an opportunity to strengthen their academic course offerings while providing high school juniors or seniors a jump start on earning college credit. Students experience the academic rigor of college curriculum and strengthen their study skills in a high school environment. Upon high school graduation, students who have participated in the CIS program make a smooth transition to a college setting.

Schools from Greenway (Coleraine) to the north and Monticello to the south are providing college-level courses approved and monitored in collaboration with instructors at the college.

While enrolled in the College in the Schools program, high school students save thousands of dollars in tuition and develop the skills and understanding of college curriculum necessary for future college success.
