Parents and students from all area high schools are welcome to attend the meeting to learn more about the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike High School Team, a club expected to start next school year.

Shaun Anderson, director of the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike High School Team, and Gary Sjoquist, chair of the Minnesota High School Cycling League, will discuss the program, answer questions and provide information on after school practices and competitions, which take place on Sundays around the state.

“We’ll focus on safe bike handling skills, fitness training and racing techniques,” said Anderson. “It’s a way to get high school kids on their bikes and engaged in a lifelong sport.”

The statewide cycling league is a self-governing, self-funded, self-supported program that partners with high schools. Riders of all levels are welcome and encouraged to join.

“No one gets cut from the team. It’s all about doing your best, no matter how big or strong you are,” said Sjoquist. “Both boys and girls work together to score points during races, and they get to ride mountain bikes on cool outdoor trails around Minnesota.”

The Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike High School Team is supported by the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Crew, a division of IMBA and Minnesota Off-Road Cyclists. To learn more, visit minnesotaMTB.org.
