Big Equipment Show to raise funds for early childhood programs

STAPLES — The Staples-Motley Early Childhood Coalition (SMECC) will conduct its third annual Big Equipment Show from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Staples Elementary parking lot. All families and community members are invited to attend.

Many types of equipment will be on display such as fire trucks, a police emergency vehicle, heavy equipment vehicles, motorcycles and an ambulance. The following businesses and organizations will be represented at this year’s event: Central Lakes College Heavy Equipment program, city of Staples, Wadena ROTC, Staples Fire Department, Staples Police Department, OK Tire Store, Giza Plumbing and Heating, Staples Motley Varsity Football team, Staples-Motley School District and Lakewood Health Systems.

Admission is $1 per person ($5 maximum per family). Hot dogs and snow cones will be available for sale. All proceeds will used by the SMECC to support early childhood programs in the Staples-Motley area.

“Each year we try to bring in new things for the kids to see and do. It is always so much fun,” said Sara Dregney, SMECC member and event organizer. “As always, we thank the wonderful groups donating their time and equipment. This event could not happen without them.”

The Staples-Motley Early Childhood Coalition’s mission is to ensure all children in our area have a healthy start and are well-prepared to start their school journey.
