Brainerd Public Library hosts ‘Of Vikings and Voyageurs’ presentation Tuesday

‘Of Vikings and Voyageurs,’ a free legacy presentation by author Jack Salmela, will begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the Brainerd Public Library.

The presentation will take you into the world many know little about and the voyageur interpreter will bring a bit of this history to life with an actual musket, furs and more. The voyageurs carried a lot of furs along the waterways of the north and at one point carried real treasure — and lost it. The rumor of treasure came down to the present, sparking a search that attracted both treasure hunters and historians alike. The key lay in rune stones left by Vikings centuries before the Voyageurs paddled their canoes on the wilderness lakes and rivers
