Brainerd man found dead of self-inflicted gunshot wound

A 55-year-old Brainerd man was found dead Tuesday of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Brainerd Police Chief Corky McQuiston said.

Roy Berg’s body was sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s office for examination.

McQuiston said Brainerd police was contacted by concerned relatives about 2:33 p.m. to check on the welfare of Berg who lived in the Stoney Brook mobile home park on Merri Lane in southeast Brainerd. A relative had contacted law enforcement indicating family members had concerns for the male’s health and possible depression issues. Family had been unable to make contact with Berg since Sunday.

McQuiston said officers arrived at the residence and were unable to get a response from anyone inside the home. Officers forcibly entered the residence and found Berg deceased.
