Breezy Point woman wins Minnesota Zoo contest

Jennifer Salvevold of Breezy Point recently won in the Northern Trek category of the Minnesota Zoo Photo Contest, sponsored by National Camera Exchange.

Salvevold’s photograph of a grizzly bear just coming out of the water was taken at the Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley. The photo was among nearly 1,500 photos that had been submitted to Flickr. It was narrowed down to the zoo’s and National Camera Exchanges favorite top 10 in each category. From there it went to Facebook, and fans helped choose their favorites.

Salvevold won a $100 gift card to the National Camera Exchange and her photo will be hung on the wall at the zoo for a year along with the other winners. Other categories included Tropical Animals, People and Places, Magnificent Minnesota, Wild About Animals, Just Keep Swimming and Barnyard Animals. To see the other winners go to

Salvevold attends Central Lakes College in Staples and is working on a diploma in photographic imaging with a framing and matting certification. She owns a photo studio called Photojenic.
