Navy Seaman Recruit Ryan J. Mulvaney, grandson of Patrick J. Mulvaney, Deerwood, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Kari L. Giles, daughter of Tim and Sherry Giles, Verndale, graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Army Pvt. Todd A. Schmidt, son of Anita Otremba and Tim Schmidt, Little Falls, graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

Army Pvt. Ryan W. Hamann, son of Deetta Olson and stepson of Greg Olson, Brainerd, graduated from the Basic Field Artillery Cannon Crewmember Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

Navy Seaman Recruit Monty J. Pintok, son of Harold J. Chaimberlain, Ironton, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Navy Seaman Recruit Christian M. Swofford, son of Melody C. Swofford and stepson of Scott J. Voss, Pequot Lakes, Minn., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Area native Pvt. Zachary D. Hammond, 19, earned the title U.S. Marine upon graduating from Marine Corps recruit training in San Diego. Hammond is a 2011 graduate of Brainerd High School.

Army Pvt. Michael D. Reich, son of Kathleen Davis, Aitkin, graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

I've worked at the Brainerd Dispatch with various duties since Dec. 7, 1983. Starting off as an Ad Designer and currently Director of Audience Development. The Dispatch has been an interesting and challenging place to work. I'm fortunate to have made many friends, both co-workers and customers.
