Tori Michelle Palony, Brainerd, was awarded a $1,000 scholarship through Lake Superior College Foundation’s Physical Therapy Clinic Physical Therapist Assistant fund. Palony is enrolled in Lake Superior College’s physical therapist assistant program in Duluth.

Kelsey Jewell, daughter of Robb and Sue Jewell of Brainerd, graduated Cum Laude from the Franciscan University of Steubenville in Steubenville, Ohio, with a degree in Theology and British and American Literature. She will be returning to Franciscan University to pursue a master’s degree in education.

Taylor Headlee, Nisswa, was one of three North Dakota State University students to receive the NDSU Women’s Club annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000. The scholarships were awarded at the club’s fall event in September. Headlee is a junior majoring in electrical engineering who plans to pursue a career in the renewable energy industry.

Area students enrolled at UW-River Falls include Ryan Anderson, Aitkin; Michelle Anez, Little Falls; Emilee Branum, Nisswa; Leah Dykhoff, Wadena; Hollie Garry, Nisswa; Alyssa Kringen, Brainerd; Amy Roth, Baxter; Mary Waytashek, Little Falls; and Shane White, Pillager.

Kelsi R. Ustipak, Brainerd, graduated from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, with a bachelor of arts degree in geology.

Michelle A. Ustipak, Brainerd, graduated from North Dakota State University, with a bachelor of science degree in veterinary technology and anthropology.

Tom Lyscio, BHS class of 2008, graduated Suma Cum Laude from the College of St. Scholastica. Lyscio completed requirements for a bachelor’s degree while concurrently completing first year graduate studies toward a doctorate of physical therapy. He was also named the Physical Therapy Student of the Year for his accomplishments and contributions to the physical therapy program at St. Scholastica, Duluth.

Coryn Deem, daughter of Bill Deem and Juli Sutton-Deem, Brainerd, has been selected to participate in Choraliers at Bethany Lutheran College. Deem is a 2011 graduate of Brainerd High School.
