Man now in custody after fleeing deputies
A man that fled Crow Wing County Deputies involving an incident on Oct. 12 was found and put into custody by Morrison County Sheriff’s Saturday morning according to a release from the sheriff’s office.
Forty-six-year-old Lonnie Joseph Bellcourt, of Onamia, is currently being held in Morrison County jail pending numerous charges, including fleeing a peace officer in a vehicle.
Morrison County sheriff’s received a report at 9:34 a.m. Oct. 13 from a Crow Wing County Deputy that was attempting to locate Bellcourt and a GMC Yukon.
According to a release from the Morrison County Sheriff’s office, a Morrison County Deputy located the suspect vehicle and driver at approximately 9:45 a.m. east of Pierz on County Road 39. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle in the city of Pierz then drove through several yards in Pierz. The vehicle eventually became disabled west of Lastrup and Bellcourt fled on foot into a swamp.
Morrison County Sheriff’s Canine and handler responded to the scene, along with other officers and a state patrol helicoper and Bellcourt was apprehended by the canine at approxmately 10:55 a.m.
There were no reported injuries.
The Morrison County sheriff was assisted by Crow Wing County sheriff, Baxter police, Pierz police, Pierz fire department and the Minnesota State Patrol.
