BAXTER — Rep. Chip Cravaack, R-Minn., will be at Northland Arboretum in Baxter from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday meeting with voters.

■ Candidates’ forum on environmental issues set

BAXTER — A candidates’ forum on environmental issues is set for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct 24, at the Northland Arboretum in Baxter.

Candidates for Congressional District 8; State Senate District 10; State House Districts 10A and 10B; Crow Wing County Board Districts 1 and 5; and Soil and Water Conservation Districts 1, 4 and 5 have been invited to participate in this discussion of environmental issues in the Brainerd Lakes Area.

Larry Kellerman from Central Lakes College will be the moderator. Questions will be submitted from the audience. Come to this forum to get an opportunity to meet candidates and hear their views on environmental issues

■ Cravaack to discuss gun rights in Little Falls

Rep. Chip Cravaack, R-Minn., will be in Little Falls from 4:30 to 5 p.m. Thursday, with Gun Owners of America President Larry Pratt. The pair will discuss gun rights and other firearms related issues at Pap’s Sports Shop, 64 East Broadway Avenue.

■ Brainerd Parks and Recreation Board meets Monday

The Brainerd Parks and Recreation Board meets at 4:30 p.m. Monday, in the council chambers at Brainerd City Hall.

■ Veterans’ Farm Field Day Saturday at CLC, Staples

Veterans are invited to a Farm Field Day Saturday at Central Lakes College, Staples.

The event includes presentations, discussions, a trade show of farming resources, catered lunch, tours and a draft horse demonstration.

Partners in planning the event include farmer veterans Mike Sams (a heavy equipment instructor at CLC) and Seth Connell, the CLC Veterans Resource Center, CLC Ag and Energy Center, the Farm Beginnings Program of the Land Stewardship Project and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.

Coffee and doughnuts will begin the event at 8:30 a.m., with an address by Sams and Connell at 9 a.m., a Land Stewardship Project program on “Assessing Your Farm Dreams” at 9:30 a.m., a farm resource trade show at 11:30 a.m., with lunch, tours of the Sams farm and draft horse demonstration at 1 p.m. and evaluation wrap-up at 4 p.m.

■ Airport panel and committees set meetings

The Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport Commission and Manager Search Committee will conduct a special pre-interview planning meeting at noon Wednesday, in the Airport Conference Room at the Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport.

The airport commission and Manager Search Committee will conduct interviews at 1 p.m. Oct. 25, in the Airport Conference Room at the Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport. Interviews will also be conducted at 1 p.m. Oct. 30, in the Airport Conference Room.
