Slippery roads cause school bus accident near Little Falls

A total of six students were taken to the hospital to check for further injuries after a school bus accident at 7:18 a.m. Thursday just southeast of Little Falls the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office reported.

According to the release, initial investigation indicates the school bus was traveling north on Iris Road when the driver lost control on a slippery, sharp curve, causing the bus to tip on its side.

There were 15 students aboard the bus, mostly middle school age and younger from the Little Falls area at the time of the incident. No major injuries were reported and the four students were taken to St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls immediately following the accident, with two more students joining them a short time later to be checked for possible injuries.

The Minnesota State Patrol assisted the scene and the patrol will be reconstructing the accident. The bus is owned by Palmer Bus Service.
