Much obliged-Heartland Poets

Heartland Poets

Many thanks to those who were a part of the Minnesota Poet Laureate Joyce Sutphen public reading at Central Lakes College in Brainerd on Oct. 13. Five Wings Arts Council was very generous in approving a grant to Heartland Poets in support of this event. The Center for Lifelong Learning at CLC partnered with us so that our poetry group could sucessfully host this event at the college. Our community sponsors, Bang Printing, Close-Converse and Lakes Printing generously supported the reception after the reading. Wonderful music was provided by three talented high-schoolers: Anja Smith, Sophie Stubbs and Sarah Yeh. The horticulture program at CLC lent us a fabulous fall floral arrangement we place near the podium. Desserts and beverages served by Campus Dining Services were top notch. The audience were great listeners and asked thoughtful questions. Much appreciation to Krista Soukup, publicist and owner of Blue Cottage Agency, for publicizing and coordinating this event. Thanks to the voluntary efforts of Heartland Poets.
