Baxter approves traffic study for Golf Course Drive and Clearwater Road intersection

BAXTER — Is the existing two-way stop sign enough of a traffic control at the well-traveled Golf Course Drive and Clearwater Road intersection?

That’s one of the questions a traffic study is expected to answer. Tuesday, the Baxter City Council approved a WSB & Associates traffic study proposal. The study is not to exceed $2,366.

For the study, WSB plans to look at the intersection during peak hours of traffic and look at turning patterns and collect vehicle counts during a 48-hour period. In addition, the study will look at crash data utilizing law enforcement reports. The traffic analysis is expected to be completed in the next few weeks.

In other business, the council:

Directed staff to look at two dates in April, the 20 and 27, for possible options for the town meeting.

Set the next meeting in a council workshop and for the 2013 budget and levy information meeting at 6:15 p.m. Dec. 3.
