Hackensack's top two firefighters retire
HACKENSACK — Hackensack Fire and Rescue will lose its two top officers when a new fire chief is elected Dec. 11.
Clarence “Butch” Moore will retire after 30 years as a firefighter, over 20 of which he has served as chief. He also will retire after 21 years as a medical first responder.
Russ Smieja will retire after 25 years as a firefighter, about half of which he has served as assistant chief.
