Baxter Lions Club donates 54 sets of children's books to Baxter Elementary

Email News Alerts

In conjunction with the Lions Club International Reading Action Project, the Baxter Lions have donated 53 sets — 3 books each — of children’s books to the Baxter Elementary School. These books will be used to provide reading incentives for both care team and mainstream students. This project will be dedicated to the memory of Baxter Lion Eunice Watland. What makes this project so special is that the author and the artist, Susan Holden and Lydia Aspen, are both from the Brainerd-Baxter area. Susan is the daughter of Lion Betty Holden of the Baxter Lions and Lydia is the daughter of deceased Beryl MacDonald. In addition, Lion Eunice still has grandchildren attending Baxter Elementary School. Pictured in photo are Greg Watland (left), Jenny Watland, Betty Holden, Gary Kub and Judy Hustak.
