Nolan appointed to agriculture committee
Rep. Rick Nolan, D-Minn., it was announced Monday, has been appointed to serve on the U.S. House Agriculture Committee.
Nolan, of rural Crosby, said it was a post he had requested because of the rural nature of the 8th Congressional District, the exports that go through the port of Duluth and the panel’s jurisdiction regarding the U.S. Forest Service. Nolan owned and operated a forest products company in Emily.
He served on the House Agriculture Committee from 1975-81 and chaired its subcommittee on Family Farms and Rural Development.
Earlier, Nolan, who unseated Rep. Chip Cravaack, R-Minn., in November, was appointed to serve on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
