Wild Ones event planned

Brainerd Chapter Wild Ones event

BAXTER — The Brainerd Chapter Wild Ones event will be from 5:30-7 p.m. Feb. 7 at the Northland Arboretum, Baxter. The program will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and refreshments from 6:30-7 p.m.

Program: Gardening Plus! Learn how to build a landscape that is resilient, beautiful and functional. Speaker Jim Ravis, Master Gardener, will share his tried and true approach to landscaping for habitat, beauty, and water quality. His program will help you create a balanced landscape that supports the ecosystem is self-sustaining and showcases your property. Program is free for Wild Ones members; $3 for non-members.

Jim Ravis is a native plant, wildlife enthusiast and photographer who for the past 15 years has been pursuing his passion on his Ross Lake property. Ravis has enhanced or restored native plant communities to his 20 acre plot of land which includes 800 feet of shoreline. Using undisturbed habitats as models, basic design principals, and natural history he builds ecologically sound and resilient landscape features that are functional. As a result his land features unique natural self-sustaining habitats that are functional, beautiful, and attract wildlife.
