February is “I Love to Read Month!” at the Brainerd Public Library and the following are events that are scheduled.

At 11:15 a.m. Thursday, there will be a special Valentine’s Day Baby Story Time. Also on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. are family movie night where the library will play “Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown.”

From 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday Sing, Play, Learn with MacPhail Center for Music will present preschool musical story time. Registration is required. MacPhail Center for Music’s early childhood music specialists will explore the magic of music and play. Through hands-on musical play activities, families will experience music’s impact on learning and reading readiness.  This program is suitable for children, birth to age 5. Register by calling 829-5574.  

Professional Early Literacy Training Workshop will also be held Saturday, from 1-4 p.m. for individuals who work with preschoolers. Learn new ways to enhance your story times with the addition of music. Call 829-5574 to register. The workshop is free.

Peonies of Minnesota* presented by Harvey Buchite will be held at 3 p.m. Feb. 23. Participants will experience a colorful slideshow that allows time for questions from the audience. Learn a bit of Minnesota’s role in the history of peonies and the rich history of developing ever more hardy peonies.

The library also will hold The Write Basics — Writers’ Conference March 9 at the Arrowwood Lodge in Baxter. To register call the library. Crime writer and former newspaper man, David Housewright will present a 90-minute workshop on the basics of writing a novel, and Holly Day, author and instructor, will present on the basics of publishing.

• Family Story Time, every Monday at 6:30 p.m.

• Family Story Time-, every Tuesday at 10:15 a.m.

• Baby Story Time, every Thursday at 11:15 a.m.

• Basic Computer Help, every Thursday at 2:30 p.m.

• Family Movies, every Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

• Brainerd Adult Book Club, second Wednesday of every month at 2 p.m.
