Walk A Mile In Her Shoes

Aug. 10 will be the date of this year’s Walk A Mile In Her Shoes. Again this year the location will be Mills Ford in Baxter. Proceeds from both the registration and sponsored walkers will go to Sexual Assault Services and Mid-Minnesota Women’s Center. Walk A Mile In Her Shoes is an International Men’s March to End Rape, Sexual Assault, and Gender Violence.

Men will walk a mile in women’s high heels to raise awareness and money for the Mid-Minnesota Women’s Center and Sexual Assault Services. Men are encouraged to wear high heels or specially decorated shoes. Women and children may wear regular shoes.

High-heel shoes will be provided for those who do not have their own. High heel shoes in larger sizes may be donated by dropping them off at the Brainerd or Baxter police departments. Participating men are encouraged to lead a team or join a team.

Community members who can’t walk are encouraged to contribute.

classes announced

Making accessories for mini gardens will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 8. There is no charge for Brainerd Garden Club and arboretum members; $5 for non-members.

Material charges are $10 for FIMO clay figures charge and $20 for slab pottery garden containers.

Wild edibles class will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. March 13. It is presented by Arlene Jones and staff from The Farm on St. Mathias. The fee is $7.50 for members and $12.50 for non-members.

Dragonfly making class will be held from 1-4 p.m. on March 18. It is presented by Darlene Stone. Bring one ice cream bucket size pail for soaking dogwood branches in. Class size limited to 10; cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
