Beginning March 25, 2013, seniors will be able to take part in six-week classes offered for free. There are no tests or grades, just a chance to learn with others. The classes offered are:

Course 1: “Those Dirty Rats: Organized Crime in America” is set for 1 p.m. March 28, 300 classroom (six sessions of two hours each).

Course 2: “Stories that Make You Laugh” is set for 1 p.m. March 27, 300 classroom (six sessions of one hour each).

Course 3: “1930-1955: Depression to Cold War” is set for 1 p.m. March 25, in 300 classroom (six sessions of one hour each).

Senior College started at Southwest Minnesota State in 2000 as a way to give seniors an opportunity to expand their knowledge in areas that interest them. The classes are taught by experienced faculty members who share an interest with their students in the topics. Organizers said it doesn’t matter whether students graduated from high school or have a doctoral degree: the point of these classes is to learn and have fun.
