Up to $5,000 in grants available for planting projects

The Thirty Lakes Watershed District (TLWD) is seeking applications for native planting projects, to be implemented in 2013 and 2014 within the Thirty Lakes Watershed District in Crow Wing County.

Completed projects will reduce storm water runoff/erosion and improve groundwater, lakes and streams in the county.

Projects may include shoreline restoration/ native plant buffers, rain gardens, rain barrels, and pervious systems such as driveways or sidewalks. Funding is $2,500 up to $5,000, per property/owner.

Projects may require in-kind work or cash match, up to 50 percent of the cost. Projects must be kept for a five-year minimum and include maintenance contracts.
