■ Northbound Highway 15 lanes shift, ramps open at CR 120 in Sartell today
Motorists travelling northbound Highway 15 near County Road 120 in Sartell will encounter lower speed limits, lane shifts and improved access as the northbound Highway 15/County Road 120 intersection opens Thursday, May 23.
The May 21 traffic changes include the following.
• Both lanes of northbound Highway 15 will shift to temporary lanes that bypass the County Road 120 bridge construction area.
• The posted speed limit on northbound Highway 15 will be reduced to 45 mph.
• The ramp from northbound Highway 15 to eastbound County Road 120, and the ramp from westbound County Road 120 to northbound Highway 15, will open.
• All ramps between Highway 15 and County Road 120 will remain open until further notice.
County Road 120 crossing Highway 15 will remain closed until the County Road 120 bridge spanning Highway 15 is opened in fall, 2013. Access from northbound Highway 15 to westbound County Road 120 is available at the temporary Highway 15/23rd Street South intersection, located just north of County Road 120.
The traffic changes are part of the Highway 15/County Road 120 Diverging Diamond Interchange project. When complete in 2013, the the Minnesota Department of Transportation said the project will increase safety and mobility by replacing the existing Highway 15/Stearns County Road 120 intersection with a full interchange with exit and entrance ramps.
Motorists travelling west of Foley will encounter work crews and possible delays as a short segment of Highway 23 between 95th Avenue and 85th Avenue was reduced to a single lane on Wednesday and will reopen by noon Friday.
The closure is needed as crews repair a washout beneath the roadway. The Minnesota Department of Transportation advises motorists to slow down, be prepared to stop and navigate the work zone with care as crews complete their work.
